This photograph is possibly of the Austral Laboratory Building that was located in Southampton Crescent, Abbotsford in about 1886.
This building was part of the Australian Plate Company factory site that was established by Thomas Baker a Pharmaceutical Chemist on his residential property in Yarra Grange in 1884.
The Name Changed to Baker and Rouse 1894. Owners Thomas Baker and his business partner accountant John Rouse.
The Company and factory were purchased by Kodak (Australasia) in approximately 1908/10, and occupied until Kodak moved to Coburg in Victoria in the 1950’s.
